BUNK HOTEL AMSTERDAM

Iconic Amsterdam receives an overwhelming 17 million visitors per year. Just minutes by free ferry from Central Station lies Amsterdam North. It’s alive and kicking with cultural highlights waiting to be explored, yet authentic urban life still hasn’t been discovered by tourism.

The North’s communal heart was the Saint Rita Church, which we converted into BUNK Amsterdam. This monumental building is now home to 304 guests, 107 rooms, 52 private bunks, 8 communal dinner tables and 1 teddy bear. So come to the North Side. We have cookies. And company.

Socialising in Amsterdam, events and nights out with BUNK Hotel

DID YOU KNOW THAT...

BUNK Amsterdam has a secret vault where no one really knows what will happen next? That we’re starting up an artist-in-residence program and an online radio station? That we brew our own beer, vodka, jenever (pronounced: yeah-never) and gin? That one of our staircases leads to an over-the-top library where you can play tunes from our vinyl collection? If you already knew, then you also know that no day at BUNK is ever the same…

EAT & DRINK

We believe that food and drinks taste better when shared, while chatting with fellow travellers and the people from next door. That’s why you’ll find only communal tables in our restaurant and only affordable prices on our menu.

We’ve got healthy breakfast bites, hangover cures and everything in between. Vegetables have a leading role, but we serve some meat and fish dishes as well. Our meals are locally inspired, our ingredients locally sourced and our vibes locally appreciated.

A LONG HISTORY, IN SHORT

Our Amsterdam home is in a monumental church that we have re-designed to meet the standards of today’s travellers and involved locals. It has its own history, dating back over a century. For now, we’ll give you the short version.

The Roman-Catholic St. Ritakerk was built in 1921. As Anne Frank described in her diary, the church was bombed by allied forces in 1943. After the war it was rebuilt with a bigger tower and longer hall, but eventually it lost its religious function. From 1972 onwards it served as offices for Universal Studios and a local branch of the municipal library.

BUNK will honour the church’s history by erecting an open-air monument to commemorate the bombing and by rebuilding a library that welcomes guests from near and far.
